on July 10th, 1971 Fannie lou hamer delivered a speech at the founding meeting of the national women’s political caucus in washington dc. during this speech fannie lou left us with this powerful invocation

“nobody is free, until everybody is free”

when we come together as commUNITY with a shared vision for the future, we dream into existence an impossible possible future- the legacy our ancestors have left for us.  we believe  until Black people are free, nobody is free. our liberation is woven together like the warmth that manifests between our grandmothers fingertips as they weave together for new futures that are passed down to us to make good use of.

we believe our freedom exists within our fugitivity, and while we can’t control all the external conditions we are subjected to, freedom is something that we can cultivate in our bodies, collectively, on land, with one another in the spaces and places we reclaim as spaces of home and belonging.

during this healing retreat we invite people of the global majority to join us in cultivating collective freedom, joy, and communing with land as our home, as our birthright
