About the Event
Deep Space
Deep space is an intentional multiracial space for folx in community to engage in personal & collective healing work on trauma & addiction in a deep and intimate way. This 8 week therapeutic group will be held outdoors at SUSU CommUNITY Farm. Each session will include significant time for one individual to be supported by the group in deep, personal healing space. Group is limited to 8 participants so everyone can have a turn. Every session will also include a check-in, a somatic practice, and a relational activity. During deep space there will be a BIPOC affinity space offered on site for BIPOC members of the group to explore as needed or desiered.
Half way through deep space Elder Mama Lula and Luana will offer a 3 day grief ritual for participants to engage in from Friday July 22nd- Sunday July 24th. Add details about grief ritual
At the end of the deep space journey we will gather on September 10th for a Deep space retreat that will be open to participants as well as outside members of the community.
Add mama lula and luana bio
The Deep Space group facilitators, Lis Newell and Em(ily) Megas-Russell, share a framework based in the understanding that personal traumas are tied to collective/historical traumas and systemic supremacies/oppressions. Our healing is inextricably linked. This multiracial and multigender space builds on that experience, creating an opportunity to continue to learn to take really good care of each other and ourselves as we disentangle from the harms of capitalism.
Both Em (she/they) and Lis (she/her) identify as queer, white, and somatic therapists who are on-goingly engaged in healing their own personal and collective trauma histories. If you want more info about us, you can find Lis here and Em here.
We will prioritize folks who can attend all sessions and who are undersupported, as well as identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQ. We will use a waitlist for folx who would like to sign up after spots are filled.
Registration: Please sign up no later than Monday June 20th
